May I be the first to say…

Merry Christmas!!!

It is the most glorious time of the year!  We will be decorating today and putting up a “Happy Birthday Jesus” banner.  I think the kids and I will even brave the crowds in search of a Christmas tree.  I am so thankful for the gift God has given us!  Where would we be without His sacrifice?  Oh how He loves you and me!

Kaitlyn and the Pier

Rod filmed this video of Kaitlyn walking on the pier.  She was so cute.  She would try to step on each plank and not on the cracks.  With each step she would say, “Whoa!”  We were far ahead once Rod started filming and in the video she is trying to catch up.

Worry-Wart Mom

I just posted some videos from our vacation.  Most are of the kids sliding down the steep hills at my parent’s place.  I earned several more gray hairs watching them do this feat.  However, now that I’ve watched the videos, it doesn’t seem quite so dangerous.  Maybe I’m just a worry-wart mom.

Vacation Photos

Okay, I know that I said that having my new iphone would mean many more pictures.  But, I really didn’t take many on our trip…I think I was just too tired to remember.  Here are some that I did take.

While Rod was in Vegas we went to Hart Park and CALM zoo with my parents and some very good friends.  I have a couple of pictures of all the kids together, but out of respect for their privacy I’m not going to post them.  It was so great to be able to spend time with this sweet family and I can’t believe how much their kids have grown.  We love you B family!

We also went to see my grandparents.

We love you Granny and Papa!

The weather at my parents place was pretty cold and windy for the first few days.  A storm came through one night and did some damage to their place.  Dylan and Timmy helped my dad repair a section of fencing the next day and we found toys and things scattered all over the place.  That morning we also got to experience one of California’s earthquakes.  It wasn’t a big one, but it is always an adventure.

Once the weather was nice we played outside and the kids got very dirty!  My folks have some pretty steep hills and my mom taught them how to slide down one hill with snow sleds.

(I tried to add some videos, but it isn’t letting me.  I’ll try again later.)

And of course, no trip to my parents would be complete without some shooting.

We celebrated Sammy’s fourth birthday while we were there.

(I have a video of him blowing out his candles, too.)

We had plans to see many of our friends and family, but this trip started a round of illnesses for us that we are still dealing with.  We headed over to the beach a couple of days early so that we could head home sooner.

At the beach, we went to Morro Bay to feed the seals.

(I have a video of this, too.)

It was absolutely beautiful at the beach.

We love going to Pismo Beach, and I’ve been going there since I was just a baby.  My kids have many memories of this wonderful place as well.

This picture was from April of 2009:

And this picture is from our recent trip:

I think Kaitlyn’s daddy loves her very much!

It was a good vacation, but we sure were tired.  On the drive home, we stopped early on the first day.  On the second day, we had a lot of driving to do.  We drove over 1000 miles and Rod woke us up in the middle of the night to get on the road.  I didn’t know I would ever be so glad to see this sign:

Of course, Texas is enormous and we still had a long ways to go!  We made it home late and I immediately had to start the laundry going.  It took three full days to finish all the laundry, even though we washed clothes once while we were there.  Since we had camped at the beach, everything had to be re-washed because it smelled like campfire…which is a lovely smell, but not on our clothes and blankets :)

We have settled into a routine, and even though we are still dealing with colds, I think I’ll be able to blog more.  But, you never know…

How to Make Pop-Up Cards

We love the Homestead Blessings series and Allie decided to make her own video.

She enlisted Dylan’s help and they did a great job.  I’m sorry about the lack of posts again, we’ve been fighting a cold.
